If you believe in yourself, anything is possible!
What do you think you are capable of? The answer is probably more than you realize. Having self-confidence and believing in yourself are important steps in making dreams come true.
It’s not always easy to build self-confidence. An estimated 85% of people worldwide struggle with low self-esteem. To boost self-confidence, there are useful habits you can practice every day. When I started practicing these habits years ago, I slowly gained the self-confidence I needed to fearlessly pursue my dreams!
Want to do the same? Then just read on to learn about ten effective exercises that will boost your confidence!
1.Build self-confidence by challenging illogical ways of thinkingOur
irrational or illogical thinking often leads us to have a certain image of ourselves. A common example of this is the idea that everyone is judging us. You may sometimes feel that all eyes are on you, and that the world is silently criticizing your every move. Not only does this mindset have a negative impact on your self-confidence, but it’s also just plain wrong. After all, most of the time people are far too busy with themselves to waste their time judging you!
If you find yourself thinking irrationally, challenge those thoughts. One thing I like to do is to give these illogical thoughts a name (let’s call them, for example: Hugo). This separates these illogical thoughts from you and your more realistic self-perception. You no longer feel so weighed down by their negativity when you pass them on to “Hugo.” Hugo takes it off your shoulders, and you can feel better about yourself!
2.Build self-confidence through positive affirmationsAffirmations
and mantras are simple but powerful tools that can help you improve your self-confidence. This method of self-talk can be used at any time and will boost your positive thinking.
Here are ten of my favorite motivational mantras:
1. Focus on who you are.
2.Nothing lasts forever. The bad will pass.
3.Don’t let anyone steal your happiness.
4. it’s all good! You can do this.
5. Action conquers fear.
6. Don’t wish for it, work for it.
7. don’t be normal, be the best version of yourself you can be.
8. one year means 365 possibilities.
9. it is “getting started” that stops most people.
10. hard times don’t last, hard people do.
Even something as simple as “You’re okay!” can go a long way. Find your favorite mantras and write them down, use them as a background for your phone, for example. That way you’ll see them every day and be reminded of them again and again. If you build yourself up with positive self-talk, positive thinking will follow, and then successful results are not far away!
3. build self-confidence by being compassionate to yourselfWhen
you are working on your goals and improving yourself, remember that no one is perfect, and
everyone makes mistakes. It’s irrational to think you have to be “perfect” all the time. If you think that way, you are setting yourself too high standards and will inevitably be disappointed.
Instead of always striving for perfection, show yourself some compassion. Remember that you are human, and you are always doing the best you can under the circumstances. As the old saying goes, “self-love is the best love”. You must be able to love and appreciate yourself before you do anything else!
4. build self-confidence by taking care of yourself
To improve your self-confidence, it’s important that you take care of yourself. The great thing about self-care is that there is not just one way to do it. Self-care is something that should improve your mood and make you feel good about yourself. By implementing self-care habits, you’ll naturally feel more confident and satisfied!
5. Build self-confidence by listing your accomplishments.
Think about everything you’ve accomplished so far. Big or small, and then write it down. We often overlook all the little things we accomplish every day! Give yourself the credit you deserve. Write your accomplishments in a journal or on a poster on the wall – just to remind yourself daily how great you are. Everything you’ve experienced, for better or worse, has made you who you are and shows how resilient you are. Projecting this sense of pride onto yourself will boost your self-confidence and make you feel braver, more determined, and more “attack-able.”
6. building self-confidence by letting go of negativity
Get rid of the negativity in your life! Negative people, situations and habits – let them all go and focus on surrounding yourself with things that make you happy. Things that bring negativity only hinder your ability to grow.
Letting go of negativity is easier said than done. The first step to doing this is to identify what exactly is causing the negativity. This can be difficult because often negative things are so deeply rooted in our lives and so persistent that we don’t even realize they are a problem. When you catch yourself feeling bad, think about what is causing that feeling. Once you know that, do everything you can to remove the negative mood from your life.
7. build self-confidence by going beyond your comfort zone.
While it may seem intimidating to step outside of your comfort zone, it comes with many benefits! By challenging yourself, you can achieve things you never thought possible. You’ll feel proud of yourself and more confident in your abilities. Plus, you’ll get the feeling that you’re evolving, and that in turn will give you extra energy.
To push the boundaries of your comfort zone, you should do one thing every day that scares you a little. I don’t mean threatening or unsafe situations, but try something you wouldn’t normally trust yourself to do. Whether you
Whether you succeed or fail, you will be proud of yourself for trying, and that will give you the confidence you need to do other things.
8. Build self-confidence through self-knowledgeTake
some time to think about who you really are. Ask yourself: Who am I as a person? What are my values? What do I want to achieve? Very often we try to fit into the mold of what society expects of us. With this false idea of ourselves, we can never really feel comfortable in our own skin.
Once you have identified what is really important to you, you should do things that fulfill those values. Then, when you start living by those values and passions, you embody your “best version of yourself,” and by doing so, you naturally become much more self-confident.
9. Strengthening Self-Confidence through Social EngagementWhen
you
help others and give back to your community, you will inevitably feel good
about yourself.
Knowing that you have impacted the lives of others can be a deeply fulfilling feeling. So take some time and help those around you!
10. build self-confidence by setting realistic goalsgoals
you
can achieve. Again, this may well mean going outside of your comfort zone, but goals that are achieved will certainly improve your self-confidence.
You can set realistic goals by breaking big plans into small steps. For example, if your dream is to run a marathon, work your way up to that daunting distance in smaller steps. Run 10k for a few weeks, then increase to 15, then 20, and so on. Eventually, you’ll keep increasing until you can complete the entire distance. Each small goal you accomplish will boost your confidence and bring you one step closer to your big goals.
If you believe in yourself, anything is possible!
